Fine Arts and Science Integration
Assignments and project
works are the main factors that affects the leisure time of college students. Lecturers
think that burdened with workloads students are kept on track, of course, there
is nothing wrong in it as opposed to alcoholism, drugs, idleness, etc., and if
not for few it may even lead to mental stress and depression.
Fine Arts, is one such
module that gobble up the lion’s share of time for the Management Technology (Architectural
Technology) students, basically practical orientated, we (students) were asked
to come up with our own designs and models of, ranging from paper boxes to sun
shelters. To certain extend it gives an opportunity for the students to learn
by doing, put the classroom learning’s into practice, besides it also focuses
on the presentation skills. It’s pretty much challenging and nerve racking in
deed.
With the term coming to
an end the projects seem to be more thought-provoking. Students are given a
period of three weeks, in which we have to come up with a sun shelter with our
own design using recycled materials. It was also made clear that our work
progress should be presented every week to the lecturer. The sun shelter that
can cast the largest shadow area is going to be the winner provided it should also
be the lightest says the lecturer. No sooner, the projects was assigned we
rushed to nook and corner of the campus looking for recycled materials; some
even hopped into garbage bins. Quite a many of them have collected dried tree branches
unfortunately to upset the maids for it piles more residue. Nevertheless, being
in-kind wasn’t an option either for we have huge affliction shouldered on us.
Day and night so keen and dedicated I along with my friend pursued our sun shelter.
Perhaps shortage of materials has a greater impact on our project and in deed
the flood in the late monsoon season has favored us a lot.
Three weeks wasn’t any
longer, it passed like few hours and before we could really pack-up the due
date was right under our nose. Sleepless and tireless we somehow forged on time
but nothing was more frustrating and annoying when it broke out at the last
hour. So pathetic and pitiful, we tied and joined using several connectors and
presented for sake of submitting the project. What so ever it wasn’t bad.
