Choosing a right career!
Choosing a right career is very imperative in one’s life, as it is a decision on which person’s entire life depends. After high school students have to make a decision, which stream to choose, science, commerce or humanities. At such stage most students are too immature to make wise decisions. So they leave this important decision to their parents, teachers or friends without taking into account, their own interest. Generally parents look after the market scenario and they suggest the same stream to their children. Now where is a gap? Isn’t it necessary to know whether the students can perform up to the mark in streams which are running in current market trend? Like at present scenario Engineering, Management, medicine etc are fields considered to be the best option for making careers. So every parent wants their child to opt among these. A very minimal percentage of students are enjoying their professional life of their own choice.
With the rapid development and increased enrolment in the schools and colleges, competition for job is evident, especially with the increasing number of students leaving schools and colleges at different levels in pursuit of career opportunities. We encounter challenges such as changes in the job opportunities and the changing nature of the world of work. Therefore, it is imperative that we must choice our career as per our own interest and abilities. Choosing a career can be an adventure at times, probably every one of us would have thought about what we want to do to earn a living. To enable our career planning, we need to consider first our interest, skills, values and personal qualities. Further we also need to explore occupations and opportunities and most importantly we must reflect and analyze upon it. It enables us to understand ourselves better and gets us oriented towards the world of work and training. It makes us aware of the importance of looking ahead to the future and encourages accepting individual responsibility for our life.
But deplorably besides numerous ways and means I could see many of our younger generations failing to incorporate such catastrophe may be due to inadequate aptitude and preferred skills, though it is everyone’s single most wish and desire to pursue at least a bachelor’s degree and experience the glimpse of college life. With the advent of time, career consultancy has gained momentum. It has become a profession for some people. When students are at their wit’s end they can always take the help of career consultants. Consultancies will view streams as per his/her career prospective and can have right tools which can lead to right decisions. Choosing right career is a hard step which has all its abilities to lead a person towards success. Once a person moves a step ahead after choosing their career then it becomes very hard to change and opt for other fields. Gone are the days of ancient times where birth, caste and family decide the career of a person, now one has to decide his/her own career. Parents, superiors and teachers can always support and guide their child. The onus is on them to see that whether students are on right track or not and whether they can make a progress in the chosen field of work.
Above all it is necessary to set your priorities such as job efficiency, contentment, social ethnicity, professional life, personal life and so on to choose the right career. After weighing all benefits and ill effects of choosing a particular field one should be convinced in choosing a career that best suits him/her and make assertive decisions. Once the right decision is made a person can easily achieve their personal and professional goals which can lead them towards progress, success, prosperity and peace in one’s life.
